Highlights
- New Fallout 4 mod enhances movement with sliding, stumble effects, unlimited sprinting, and realism based on character stats.
- The Advanced Movement mod is compatible with almost all other Fallout 4 mods, including the recent Fallout London.
- The creator is open to making adjustments if needed.
A new mod for Fallout 4 gives players a lot more options for moving around the game's world, bringing it up to par with what action fans can expect from a recent first-person shooter release. While Fallout 4 continues to be a popular game nearly nine years after its original release, it's still missing some movement features that a lot of players expect from an FPS game.
The second release in the mainline series since Bethesda acquired the brand, the post-apocalyptic RPG launched in November 2015, and Fallout 4 sales are still way up in 2024. While only enjoying mixed user reviews on Metacritic, the game has very positive reviews on Steam, and its nearly 2,900 recent reviews there — 86 percent of which are positive — show that it's still managing to hold the attention of its fan base.

Fallout 4 Mod Adds The Ghoul to the Game
A new Fallout 4 mod adds the popular 'The Ghoul' character from the recent Fallout TV show to Bethesda's post-apocalyptic open-world game.
The new movement mod, simply titled Advanced Movement, was uploaded to Nexus Mods on August 3 by user bp42s, and it comes with a variety of mechanic changes that can individually be toggled on or off. Adding all-new mechanics such as the ability to slide and a stumble effect when falling from a great height, the mod also allows for unlimited sprinting outside of combat and adds momentum to the sprint function, potentially landing it among the best Fallout 4 mods. The mod also allows for increased difficulty, draining Action Points for swimming and sneaking at rates determined by a character's endurance and agility, respectively. Lastly, it provides a realistic option for movement speed based on which direction a player is moving, reducing movement speed by 25 percent for walking backwards and 15 percent for strafing.
Fallout 4 Mod Offers New Movement Options
The feature that seems to be getting the most attention from fans is the slide function, which may still need some tweaking. One player complained that after a slide, players should be crouching rather than immediately standing upright, similar to the slide skill unlocked in Starfield with the Gymnastics perk. The creator agreed in a post on August 4, saying that a change would be made as early as the same day. Another stated that they cannot shoot while sliding in third-person mode, and while bp42s said that's by design, they may consider adding it in.
The Advanced Movement mod is designed to be compatible with almost every other Fallout 4 mod. This includes the recently launched Fallout London, which was shadow-dropped on GOG on July 25 and transforms the game entirely by placing it in a brand-new metropolitan area.
